America, discovery or abolition?
The world history is made of thousands
different versions as to the origins and evolution of the human kind and its
spread through the planet´s surface. Many of these remarkable events were
called discoveries. But Why? Isn´t it a discovery the process of learning something that was not known before, or of finding someone or
something that was missing or hidden?
For the amateur historian, Gavin Menzies and many other historians,
America was the discovery of discoveries that opened the doors to new boundaries
and of course endless possibilities of expansion for those reigning empires at
that time.
However, many others do not consider America a discovery for the
fact that when Spaniards or any other colonizers arrived into the land of
opportunities “ America”, it was already populated by tribes that migrated from
island to island until they formed settlements that happily enjoyed all the
natural resources it had to offer by then.
Sadly,
conquerors just brought grief and sorrow to the natives and completely wiped
them out with all kind of tortures and hard exhaustive work causing their
almost immediate extermination.
So, no
matter who claimed the land first, the most important thing is to see beyond
the greed and selfishness, and at least think in the human race and its
suffering throughout his history and evolution wherever it takes place.
