“Baseball”

Baseball is a very interesting sport played around the world and practiced by thousands of people from different sports, since this wonderful and healthy game is one of the most famous sports, it took place in united states, with some already recognized teams that are American leagues, it was spread all over the world and nowadays this game is seem as one of the best choise to exercise your mind and body.

This game is played with teams of nine players distributed all over the play or baseball field, having into account that’s each player is incharged of facing a different position or area. Several days ago our country was living a real enthusiasm because there was a baseball championship and it was the main topic wherever you were, because our Dominican baseball team began really powerful and they were winning everywhere, but unfortunately it lost when it was playing against united states, but anyway Dominican Republic was valued as the hardest opponent prior our defeat.

MASTERING THE LAW OF GRAVITY

This lesson really helped me to develop my mind because once you have the opportunity of reading it, it gives you a motivation to go on, because Yuen was a positive person who always was capable to realize everything he had in mind therefore I am able to say that we cannot give up, it does not matter how difficult a situation is. Also he was involved with the different films which took him to be more recognized around the world.

If we take this unit into account we could see things really different and we can also get ready to face things with a better responsibility. Moreover this kind of reading are written with the objective of increasing our minds.

SMART CARS, INTELLIGENT HIGHWAYS

Well, when we mention this topic we have to prepare our minds to react of a very amazing way because it takes us really far, since it is refered to the future discoveries and for this reason we must be conscient that we have to advance specially with the technology since this is a new challenge we have. Due to these contemporaneous goals we are all supposed to improve our daily routine trying to reach a higher competition or a superior academic level.

It is really amazing to see a car flying everywhere and being driven itself, but life is so and scientists will never stop investigating new advances and goals. Also it shows us that we have to move into an easier and better world, since when we express the term advance, this is exactly what it means.

DID THE CHINESE DISCOVER AMERICA

This unit is refered to a great fact, which is related with the known explorer Christopher Columbus, so according to these facts there were people who were or who got to America before the explorer Christopher Columbus.

In fact, it surprised me a lot when I read this article in which was written that there were people who got to America before the year 1492.

When I was studying in primary and in high school I was told that Christopher Columbus was the real hero of the America Discovery which took place around the eleventh century.

This lesson is really doubtful because it has several facts which made me feel that I still have too much road to explore, since it has a lot of things that I didn´t even imagine, therefore I could say that the Reading i one of the best weapon to kill the ignorance and having a higher level of experience.

THE NAME GAME

This lesson is related with several points of views such as business decisions or several deals

in which people seem to be really worry about having a great economic benefit by selling different names which  are later sold with a high rate, so once a name is already done people usually ask for a better income, therefore  I could say that business are for really Smart people  who were born to have a superior point of view, for that reason I really admire business people.

Through the time I would like to become a business man because I guess that if a person is awake in commercial deals, that person will enjoy of a better and easier life therefore this is what I want to do one day, but I will be reasonable and fair.

THE UPS AND DOWNS OF YO- YOS

This unit talks about YO-YOS and it is really interesting because once you have a way of relaxing is very important because you go out of your problems easier, so it means that a human being needs that way of disconnecting of all the conflicts that are around him, her, therefore knows day people are trying of getting of the negative things doing this kind of exercise because it Works a lot and It is extremely relaxing as well.

This kind of entertainment helps to the hearth of the people because once you are doing it your mind is disconnected of your body and therefore this type of practice is recommendable to strengthen your spirit and mind.

This practice was first realized in India around the year 1765.

Mastering the law of gravity

         Science Fictions are movie people like to watch because these movies are not part of our real life. In these movie, people can do things we cannot do in a real life. One example of this is Superman, he has the ability to master the law of gravity. According to the movie, he came from other planet and that gives him the gift to fly. Another example is crouching tiger hidden dragon.

         Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is a movie from the antique China, where people had the ability to fight with sword and they were called swordsman. Master Li Mu Bai was an accomplished swordsman and martial artist. He had a special sword that helped him win his battles. This sword, the green Destiny, was a historical sword in that China.

       Movies are just movies to entertain and that is what we think, but movies are a trace or path to learn how the past was or how the future will be. So the next time we see a movie let´s pay attention and learn the new things they can bring us. 

Did the Chinese really discover America?

America, discovery or abolition?

The world history is made of thousands different versions as to the origins and evolution of the human kind and its spread through the planet´s surface. Many of these remarkable events were called discoveries. But Why? Isn´t it a discovery the process of learning something that was not known before, or of finding someone or something that was missing or hidden?

For the amateur historian, Gavin Menzies and many other historians, America was the discovery of discoveries that opened the doors to new boundaries and of course endless possibilities of expansion for those reigning empires at that time. 

However, many others do not consider America a discovery for the fact that when Spaniards or any other colonizers arrived into the land of opportunities “ America”, it was already populated by tribes that migrated from island to island until they formed settlements that happily enjoyed all the natural resources it had to offer by then.

Sadly, conquerors just brought grief and sorrow to the natives and completely wiped them out with all kind of tortures and hard exhaustive work causing their almost immediate extermination.

So, no matter who claimed the land first, the most important thing is to see beyond the greed and selfishness, and at least think in the human race and its suffering throughout his history and evolution wherever it takes place.

The history of Yo-Yos

A yo-yo (also spelled yoyo) is a toy which in its simplest form is an object consisting of an axle connected to two disks, and a length of string looped around the axle, similar to a slender spool. It is played by holding the free end of the string known as the handle (usually by inserting one finger into a slip knot) allowing gravity or the force of a throw to spin the yo-yo and unwind the string (similar to how a pullstring works), then allowing the yo-yo to wind itself back to one's hand, exploiting its spin (and the associated rotational energy). This is often called "yo-yoing". First made popular in the 1920s, yo-yoing remains a popular pastime of many generations and cultures. It was known in ancient Greece, but it is often associated with Japanese culture, because it is very popular in Japan. The World Yo-Yo Contest has historically been dominated by the Japanese-taking home 71 World Titles in the past 22 years. Shinji Saito remains the most decorated yo-yoer of all-time with 13 World Titles. Takeshi Matsuura is second with 6.

In the simplest play, the string is intended to be wound on the spool by hand; The yo-yo is thrown downwards, hits the end of the string, then winds up the string toward the hand, and finally the yo-yo is grabbed, ready to be thrown again. One of the most basic tricks is called the sleeper, where the yo-yo spins at the end of the string for a noticeable amount of time before returning to the hand.

Opinion:

Being a generation Y and a millennium boy makes difficult to understand certain aspects from the yo-yo toy. 

How to use the popular toy became the worst headache I ever had as a child, but luckily for me, my elder cousins gave me a hand on the issue. After a couple of lessons on how to handle the toy and further explanations about the simplest tricks, I was able to understand the basic things about it.

Believe or not using this toy can be hard and even annoying for kids of the current generation. They might not feel the joy and excitement  caused by  the fulfillment of any trick, no matter how simple it was. You never forget that memorable day when you finally did that fantastic trick.

That is something kids of this generation will never feel due to the great impact technology have had on them.

Today´s kids will not understand a yo-yo, as we did.

Is technology really taking part in the automotive industry?

Technology in all its wide expression have greatly contributed to the development of many of today´s most important human activities, such as health, education, and of course the car industry is not the exception.

Technology have brought light to the car market making them a lot faster and a lot more secure than they used to be in the past. When cars barely had the possibility to have an electric ignition.

Surely many people ignore the importance of the usage of technology in today’s cars. Security terms, for instance, have completed changed. From having no possible way to secure the life of its passengers to the possibility of detecting in which seat is a passenger sitting. It has marked a noticeable difference in the history of the car making.

Cars have dramatically improved day by day, however, aspects like traffic and crash self-avoiding systems have been a topic in which researcher are working hard to make cars even better than they are today

So, whenever you see a car, check the upgrades it has on its manual and enjoy the ride of your life!

Did the Chinese Discover America?

People always say that Christopher Columbus did not discover American, instead they say that when he came to the island other people lived in here. There are different theories about the discovery of the new world. And many of these theories state that explorers from other countries came, they did not have success.

                  My opinion about the discovery of America

              To talk about this topic (Did the chinese discover America?) is not easy because many people say one thing about and other say anotger one and also because the discovery of America has for times been credited to Christopher Columbus, but I read in a histoy book that reserachers have discoverd ancicient scrips that suggest Chinese explorers may have discovered America belong before Europeans arrived here.

             Also it says that they have found pictograms etched into the rocks around the country that appear to belong of an ancient Chinese script. They say could have been inscribed there alongside the carvings of Native Americans by Chinese explors thousands of years ago.  

               My opinion about this topic is that before talking about it we have to study careful the books which have information of who discovered it. But sometimes I think that because of the things that Chinese wrote (the ancient scrip) maybe it is true that Chinese discovered America before Columbus.

The Ups and Downs of Yo-yos

All kids like toys all over the world. As a child, I always wanted to have my own toys. One of the toys I wanted to have was the Yo-yo. In the 1990s yo-yos were very popular and kids used to make so many yo-yos tricks. My cousin Mariano was an expert with yo-yos. During one of my summer vacation, I saw how he could play that lightening yo-yo. His father brought that yo-yo with beautiful decorations from the United States.

The yo-yos were used in the entire world, even in Anime a character had the power to control the yo-yo. The character comes from the Anime Hunter x Hunter and the date was March 1988 just when the yo-yos were still popular in Japan.

The yo-yos disappeared from the popularity. I personally think that technology played a big part with taking the yo-yos out of the market. After Nintendo and video arcade kids don’t want to play any physical game, we prefer to play it online.

The name Game

I have always had the dream of having my own company. The name I want for that company is Arcade.  I want my company to interact with my customers as I want my customers to interact with my company. I really love business, so I have read many books about it. The customers are looking for new ways of spending their money or saving more and more. Smartbuyers is the new name for customers.

Nowadays, people are looking for more and more ways of having the product they want. There is where my company pretends to take place by helping the smartbuyers select the product they really need. Arcade wants to provide solutions to customers problemas or need not only with the name, but also with the company itself. 

UNIT 6 THE UPS AND DOWNS OF YO-YOS

                     

                                      MY EXPERIENCE ABOUT YO-YOS

               When I was a child there were many kind of games but one of the most played one was yo-yo. Children play it in different ways. I usually play yo-yo with my friend Anersy. We spend a lot of time playing and competing, I remember a day that she won twenty times and I just twice. From that time I was frustrated. After that I practiced during all the free time I had. Two weeks later I won four times more than she. Then I was happy because I was the winner. Now I think that I was wrong because in life is not only win sometimes  we must learn to lose, too.

                Nowadays I compare life with YO-YOS. Why? because I think life is like UPS and DOWNS of yo-yos. This is because sometimes you are up but sometimes you are down in life. And you have to learn to live up and down and accept the things life offer you.

               Many people are like I was for that time because when they are down they feel like It is all over but we have to be careful about it because every time you fall, you should try to get up. Life is wonderful but this wonder depends of us and how we organize it or what we do in our lives. I suggest you live like YO-YOS that they ups and downs but continue being a game and you as a person must accept ups(good things happen to you) and downs(bad things happen to you) and stay alive.

Did the Chinese Discover America?

All of Dominican surely believe that Christopher Columbus discovered the New world, but a lately theory indicates that the Chinese were the ones who did it.
According to Menzies's theory, the Chinese arrived on American shores 71 years before Mr. Columbus. He claims that because at that time China was a naval superpower with a strong armada.
Moreover, Gavin Menzies says in his work that China made seven major expeditions with ships which were lengthier than Christopher's ships.
Menzies also says that the Chinese did not colonized America because the emperor in that age lost power to his son, and the new one shut the door to explorations.
To me, that theory does not apply to the reality because is widely believe that the Spanish people were the ones who came to the New world before than any one else. Also, there are clear documents that support the actual work of spanish colonists. But the questions are, why the new Chinese emperor stopped the the expeditions? Do you believe that a country with a strong fleet will back away its success? To me, it doesn't make sense because all of us know that any country will stop its achievement or its influence in a foreign land.

The Ups and Downs of yo-yos

The yo-yo is a really good and useful plaything. It is a toy that is used for children today, but it was used before to low anxiety.
The matter of the fact is that no one knows where the toy came from. Otherwise, some people claim that the yo yo came from China about 3,000 years ago. Others believe it originated from Greece around 500 B.C., while others say that it came from France, and some others assume that the plaything came from Philippines.
Moreover, yo yo has appeared worldwide, it has appeared in India, France, England, Philippines, United States, Dominican Republic, and others. It also has been used for remarkable people. For example, in 1791 Mme. Vigée-Lebrun pictures the future King Louis xvll playing with a Yo yo. Another important person who used a Yo yo was Napoleon in the battle of waterloo in 1815,and George lv of England played with one yo-yo.
So, don't disparage the toy without taking a brief look to its history because it can surprise you.

Did the Chinese Discover America?

This can be controversial, many people do not agree with it.

So, you must answer these questions. You should think of some importants factors, for example; if the Chinese did discover America, where are the evidences? Can we truth in that amateur’s theory?

But, anyway we are going to have doubt about it. Because there have long hints that Columbus was not the first explorer to come to the New World from the Old. Nevertheless, this is just one of many theories.

However, many historians skeptical of  Merizie’s theories. What do you think?

The Ups and Downs of Yo-yos

The yo-yos remain me nice moments of my life. In special my childhood, these toys were a cool instrument and very relaxing.

Everybody could get or buy one easily, because the costs of yo-yos were really chip. However, not everyone had the chance of got it, but I suppose that he/she played with a friend’s yo-yo.

The most wonderful of this plaything is that isn’t just for children, the yo-yos were also used by adults to relieve tension. Yes like you had read, it calms the anxiety.

In conclusion, yo-yos were and are a plaything for everybody.

Smart cars, intelligent highways

The idea of Smart Cars can be great for some countries, because there are cities that have the streets in bad situation.

If we think of countries like Cuba for example, the people don’t have modern cars. They are using old vehicles, yes, Can you imagine that? Nevertheless, that sound really good, computerized system we just have to sit down and give some instruction to our cars.

By the way, now days many cars have some technology like; Airbag system and GPS, the last one can pinpoint the location of the vehicle for police and rescue units.

No matter how smart cars became, they cannot solves all the problems facing a “car-crazy” world by themselves. I think some of those things couldn’t happen almost any city in the world knows that the problem of traffic congestion is becoming worse every year. Then there are the terrible statistics for highways fatalities.

We are not ready for some of those systems, yet.

Unit 4: Mastering the Law of Gravity

Yuen Wo-Ping is the most valuable choreographer worldwide, he is called Master Yuen. He also has helped some action stars to get international fame such as Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Jet Li.
Likewise, Yuen came from an important Beijing opera family. He was born in 1945 and was the eldest child in his house. By the moment he was 20, he started work as an actor and stuntman in Hong Kong movies. In 1979, he opened his own production and action choreography film in Hong Kong, and in 1992, won the Hong Kong Film Award for action choreography in "Once Upon a Time in China ll". But it wasn't until The Matrix movie in 1999 that Yuen got wide fame as a choreographer. He also worked in Matrix Reloaded and The matrix Revolutions, as well. In addition, Yuen is known for his good sense of humor when he was acting. Thus, he used brushes, umbrellas, and plates as impromptu weapons in his scenes of fighting.
Finally, I recommen you to see yuen's movies and to his style of acting. Likewise, I invite you to look for his personal information because he is an interesting actor, and because you can learn things from his experiences.
