UNIT 5 SMART CARS, INTELLIGENT HIGHWAYS

                                                      Smart cars

           Every day in our generation people try to invent many differents and modern things. One of those things is SMART CARS. I think they will be amazing. First of all because they will be confortable and important specially to people who work, study, or have too many things to do during the day from a place to other.

             Unfortunately  Smart Cars couldn't be use in Dominican Republic these days. This is because in our country we have many problems which don't permit us to use Smart Cars. A thing of these problems is the streets which aren't prepare for that. In order to use Smart Cars we need better streets, sidewalks, electricity, and others important things that Smart Cars need and we don't have it.

          Also Smart Cars will be expensive. I think only rich people could buy them. Nowadays in our country we don't have a good economic situation but I hope It changes. If these changes happened we will be able to buy a Smart Car.

         My peronal opinion is that Smart Cars will be one of the most good invention. This invention would be able to drive alone and while we are going to different places we can do others things such as do a job from work,make a phone call, eat because some times we don't have the time enough to do it, and others personal things like these. I would like to have a Smart Car. They would be amazing.

UNIT 4 MASTERING THE LAW OF GRAVITY

                                             MY FAVORITE MOVIE

       I am a person who don't like to whatch tv. First of all this is because I do not have enough time to do it and I do not like it either. Whenever I whatch a movie, I feel I am wasting my time. This is of my point of view because many people like whatch tv a lot and they relax their lives whatching movies, news, soap opera, and so on.


      Even though I don't like movie. I have a favorite one. It names Perico Ripiao. It's a Dominican movie and It's a really funny. This movie has 3 main actors who are in hail. Their names are Manuel, Muricio, and Francisco. These actors are very funny person and creative, too. The firts day that I saw it Iwas crying because of the laugh. I remember I couldn't stop laughing. I laugh too much. 

      Perico Ripiao's movie had been seen around all the movie theather from Dominican Republic. There are others good Dominican's movies but never like Perico Ripiao. If you haven't seen this movie I suggest you to try to do it because It's really funny movie I'm sure of that.

URBAN LEGENDS .

An urban legend is a tale of comtemporary folklore  that purports  to be true and is often designed to elicit an emotional response from the audience .  These stories  allegued to be true and just plausible enough  to be believed , about some horrific ,ironic or exasperating series of events that supposedly happened to a real person.


From my childhood I  have heard of witches they are old deformed women ,perverse and night dwellers ,they do fly on brooms in this form they can fly closer to houses with loud screaming sounds.People say that the witches will suck the blood of the children either from  the navel or the big toe .

Mastering the  law of gravity

Talk about karate movies is so exciting for me. I love that kind of movie. I like it.
When you are watching some of these movies you can’t turn around. For me one of the best is Jackie Chan, in fact, he is famous worldwide. And second place but not less important is Jet Li.
Jackie is a star. I had seen all his movies many times. Rush Hour and Changhai Noon are two of my favorites. I like him because he is so authentic and when he has a project or he is working in some action film he not uses stunts. He does the dangerous scene himself.

Here some of his greatest movies:
·         The spy
·         Chinese zodiac
·         Who am i?
·         Police story
·         Skiptrace
·         Rumble in the Bronx
·         The forbidden kingdom and many others.
By the way, the best part of his movies for me you can find it at the end of the film. When he makes it bad he laughs himself. Therefore, I really like him.
Thoroughly, the master was Bruce Lee, but not my favorite.
Let me conclude with this, his last movie was Dragon Blade a historical action film.

Name Game!

 

INTERVIEWER: Good night, welcome to our program, Job Talk. We are talking to Johanny Lezan, who work on J.J Restaurant. Thanks for joining us, Johanny. So what do you do, exactly?
JOHANNY: Thanks for having me! Well i am a chef and owner. I am the person who put the things in orden and cook great food.

INTERVIEWER: Why had you chosen that name?

JOHANNY:    that was so simple, i had chosen that  name, because in my family almost all our name start with the initial J and one of our family name is Jimenez. So i thought that election was greatest. it was a catchy name.

INTERVIEWER: Well, Why had you chosen that kind of business, food business?

JOHANNY: Because i had loved cook from the start, from my childhood. So when you love something , you must try to get it. And like we know all start is difficult, but when you have the support of your family is less rude. I had them. the rest is history, just look at me... Here i am talking to you and your audience. and we don't have just one restaurant we have four, two in my native country, two in Los Angeles; Unite State.

INTERVIEWER: That's so exciting! And so that's that?

JOHANNY: Not quite. When we hear good news about our job. Once you have tasted it, you couldn't find the same flavor in others places, that's that!

INTERVIEWER: Fascinating! Thanks for talking to us.

Unit-2 Urban Legends

Once you must have heard an urban legend. Because that is part of the life, there are stories so difficult to believe. In fact, true or false the Urban Legends exist.

Through my short existence, i had heard a lot of eerie histories, some gruesome stories and others not at all. One of those legends was about a man who saw a woman walking on the street and decided to carry on, but with the girl. All the lane, he had been talking with her,  but she hadn't been answering him. Soon he notices something strange with her, then the lady disappeared.  Immediately, the man blacked out,  some hour ago when he came to he was at his home and good. So  Can you imagine that scene? How could  goes he at home? or Who...?

In addiction, i don't know how that could had happened or whether he have told trustworthy... The recipients  could have thought that this legend was invented. Couldn't  you?

My Expectances of Cars in the Far Future

We human beings have made an unarguably progress on mode of transport, especially on the land one. We have passed from horses and carriages to mechanical and electrical vehicles. And all of this makes me wonder: What will happen in the far future? Will cars fly? Won't cars need a driver?

When thinking about groundbreaking cars features, these are the first ones that come to my mind:

• Hovering:  I think cars will hover around 20cm off the road. To make this possible, the car might be made of  a hard and non-heavy material. 
• No driver: Currently there are some companies, such as Google, that are testing their taxies with no drivers. These taxies will be always connected to the cloud, getting information about the traffic and the streets, and the weather. Of course, GPS will be included.
• Electric motors: There are already vehicles that work with electric motors, like high-speed rails and e-bikes. There will be as many electric stations as gas stations are currently.
• No buttons: Cars will carry a computer with voice command device that will allow people to give orders like lock and unlock the door, turn or off the radio, etcetera. The car computer will interact with its owner.

Nowadays, almost everyone gets entertained with a huge variety of elements that can be found in the field of visual entertainment. Movies for instance, play an important role in such recalled and popular way to have fun. Who has not been amazed for the tricks and acrobatics some of the popular performers do in the big or small screen.

For some people, watching their favorite actors hike a mountain with a single jump make them feel astonished. they even pay an expensive ticket to see them while the movie or show is being recorded.

However, many get disappointed for the terrible  fact that many of those tricks are not real. In very popular action movies, like many movies where the famous Hollywood star Jackie Chan appears, there is a significant display of movements that could hardly be done without some help.

Movie directors use technology to obtain those great tricks we all love to watch. 

On the other hand, when directors do not want to use technology, actors could easily get seriously injured, as it had happened to the previously mentioned star.

So, the next time you watch your favorite action movie think of the consequences and the risk actors are exposed to while filming. Being an actor is not piece of cake.

Jackie Chan is the best martial arts actor ever. He is also director, producer, stuntman, and singer.
 Something particular about Chan is that he almost always performs his own stunts. For instance,
 in "Who Am I" he slides down from a huge building.

Furthermore, the way he mimics the Kung Fu's animals moves is amazing.

And finally,  I can't forget to mention his fight scenes, which are comic and surreal. In "Police Story 4", for example, he fights around ten bad guys, and wins. In this movie, impromtu weapons are a very usual element, as all Jackie Chan's movies.

Jackie Chan was born in Hong Kong in 1954. He is one of the most karate actor and is known for his martial arts all over the world. He is also a director, screenwriter, stunt performance. Some of his movies are Who am I?, Police Story and Skip Trace.

 

Who am I? is about a secret agent that loses his memory after falling from a crashing helicopter. He is then chased by a number of other agency operatives, but he has no idea why. This movie had positive results and was one of the movies that made him famous for his acrobatic style in it.

The Pros & Cons of Smart Cars and Micro Minis

Smart cars (and micro minis) have swept through Europe with the force of a tidal wave. We’ve all seen them, the cute little cars that only seat 2 people and are sometimes in very vibrant colors (such as neon green, for example).

  

The good things about Smart cars:

#1 Smart cars are not as noisy as normal sized cars. Noise pollution is one of the bigger problems of living in an urban sprawl, so being able to drive a car that does not contribute to noise pollution is definitely a plus.

#2 They take up much less space when it comes to parking. In fact, some Smart cars can be parked perpendicularly, rather than having to parallel park. Some are even light enough to be lifted into a tight spot if need be!

#3 They add less chemical pollution to the air. One of the reasons for this is that they don’t use as much fuel as regular sized cars. In fact, they use far less. In addition, some of these micro cars are hybrid cars, or even electric.

#4 Their hazard to people and other cars is reduced. This is mainly because of their size; since they are so small, they aren’t going to do as much damage. Also, with enough of these little cars on the road, issues with regard to hazards of hurting others actually goes down.

Some of the downsides of the Smart car:

 #1 you cannot take a Smart car on a cross country trip and maybe not even safely on the freeway. This could be a real concern for those who travel from the burbs to the inner city. In that case, a micro mini or Smart car might only be good for driving to the park-and-ride and then catching the bus or train into urban areas.

#2 Smart cars are typically only big enough to seat 2 people. This can be a real issue if you have a family of 4. Since they are not really geared towards families, this can be a decided disadvantage to owning one. Never mind the 20 trips you’d have to make to take your daughter’s soccer team to practice!

#3 Smart cars may not be safe if you get into a crash with a larger, heavier vehicle. While supposedly the tridion frame of the Smart car will protect passengers, according to Adrian Lund of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, all car manufacturers say they have the state of the art technology on car design that makes their cars the safest to drive. Therefore, these claims should be taken with a grain of salt.

With micro mini or Smart cars, there are several advantages. If you are a single person, or a couple and you don’t have to drive on the freeway, they could be a wonderful investment that will definitely help the environment and save you money in the long run. However, if you are a family of more than 2 people, or if you have to drive on the freeways, then buying another smaller fuel-efficient car such as a Honda may be a better idea.
