MASTERING THE LAW OF GRAVITY

Mastering the law of gravity is the unit six of the book from IDI-323, today the teacher Atilano, Angela and me were working with this unit, which is about Yuen Woo-Ping, he is a chinise choreographer. Later the teacher showed us some video clips about his movies as Snake in the Eagle´s Shadow, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and The Matrix, I like the second one it is about a princess and warrior, those movies have a lot acrobatics, tricks and creativity.

Sincerily I don´t like those kind of movies, because I hate the swords, weapons, etc. But I consider that Yuen have made an excellent job as choreographer.

Here I have Yuen´s biography:
This is a Chinese name; the family name is Yuen.

Yuen Woo-ping (Chinese: 袁和平; pinyin: Yuán Hépíng; born 1945 in Guangzhou, China) is a Chinese martial arts choreographer and film director, renowned as one of the most successful and influential figures in the world of Hong Kong action cinema. He is one of the inductees on the Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong. Yuen is also a son of Yuen Siu-tien, a renowned martial arts film actor.

Career

Yuen achieved his first directing credit in 1978 on the seminal Snake in the Eagle's Shadow, starring Jackie Chan, followed quickly by Drunken Master. The films were smash-hits, launching Jackie Chan as a major film-star, turning Seasonal Films into a major independent production company, and starting a trend towards comedy in martial arts films that continues to the present day.

Yuen went on to work with such figures as Sammo Hung in Magnificent Butcher (1979), Yuen Biao in Dreadnaught (1981), Donnie Yen in Iron Monkey (1993), and Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh in Tai Chi Master (1993) and Wing Chun (1994).

Yuen's works, particularly his action choreography on Fist of Legend (1994), attracted the attention of the Wachowski brothers, who hired him as the martial arts choreographer on The Matrix (1999). The success of this collaboration, plus his action choreography on the following year's hit Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, made him a highly sought after figure in Hollywood. He went on to work on the Matrix sequels and Kill Bill (2003).

More recent action choreography duties in Hong Kong cinema have included Kung Fu Hustle (2004), starring Stephen Chow, and Fearless (2006), starring Jet Li.

Yuen also choreographed the action sequences in The Forbidden Kingdom (2008), a Hollywood martial arts-adventure film. It is the first film to star together two of the best-known names in the martial arts film genre, Jackie Chan and Jet Li. He worked as a stunt coordinator for his first Indian film, Enthiran, directed by S. Shankar, which released in 2010.

In late 2008, Yuen began working on his first film as director since 1996, True Legend, starring Vincent Zhao and Jay Chou. He has recently worked as a fight choreography consultant on Ninja Assassin (2009).

MY DREAM BUSINESS

I have dreamed with two kinds of businesses, one of those is a bakery and the other one is a tourist place.

Since I was a child I´ve wanted to have my own bakery because candies and desserts drive me crazy, I don´t eat them frequently but I enjoy watching their varieties. To make cakes specially chocolate cake, ice cream and cheesecake are my pastimes and decorating them is like a medicine for me when I am doing this I forget all kinds of problems.
I want that everybody who eats my desserts think that they are eating a piece of heaven, they are so delicious! ^-^ . I would like to sell desserts soon!
The name that I want for my bakery is "Alma´s dessert".

".

Another kind of business that I have dreamed of it is a tourist place because our country has an excellent wheather, beautiful beaches, etc. ; maybe this place could be a hotel where thousands of people from each corner of the world have services and they know my country, but I want to work with them I would like to be their tourist guide and to receive them at the reception in my own hotel, if some day God helps me and I can realize my dream I would like to have my business in Puerto Plata because I love that city .

THE NAME GAME

If some day I decide to start a business.
The first thing that I think about is, what is goint to be the product that I will offer the market, then I could find the name for my business.

The name could be related with the product and my name, of course.
For example, I like to design clothes and look at the world of fashion.
The name for my business could be ´´THE ANGELS´STYLO´´,We could offer the market articles that can satisfy the exclusive pleasure of selecting us.

The most important aspects for a business are to study the space and identify its necessities ,in this form to make up the personality of our costumer, join with our knowledge for managing to do a funtional environment , that reflects the good taste and the satisfaction of the clients.

The idea of the name is that the costumers identify our job ,how a desing for life.

Faustino Urban Legend

This strange animal appeared drinking water in the faculty of economics in the UASD,and was discovered by a woman who cleans, and who was very frightened to see that horrible animal with the face of a dog,big head of snake, body of cow ,human extremities ,with hooves in the leg and the finger of the hand and the tail like of the mouse. The animal was very tall.

As soon as the worker watched the animal ,she shouted asking for help ,and rapidly some men armed with stone and stick came into the bathroom, stricked the animal until they killed it.

Many students gathered together in the place , but no one got to explain of what kind was these specimen . For this reason, they asked biologists and Veterinarians their opinions after they look at it ,but they didn´success . The strange specimen was white like a paper and had the soft skin.
Said the students that touched it to teacher Perez.

FAUSTINO´S LEGEND

MY OPINION ABOUT THIS LEGEND

I don´t believe in this urban legend , because is totality folse .

Why. If the success has been truthly, how there were so much people in the place watching the animal ,only one person took a picture ,how is the cellphone ´tecnology tha anyona can take others picture.Because if the animal was touched by the students ,they can moved it in more of a position.
Morever this animal had alot ofcharacteristic that weren´t proved by spert in the subject.

I think as some opinion´s student, that maybe was a practical joke of some student for to fill of panic this faculty or an invent of the teacher Perez for that the student have the oportunity to write in his blog.

weird ANIMAL IN THE UASD. Is it El Chupacabras?, Could it be the bacá of a candidate?

. WILL IT BE A Chupacabras
What did the Chupacabras do in the U.A.S.D.?

For FAUSTINO PÉREZ

This strange animal was found drinking water in one of the bathrooms of the building´s economics at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, , the woman who cleans began to scream as soon as she saw it, and luckily some men came with sticks and managed to kill " This Pod Rare "... Now, that's it"? IT Will BE the famous Chupacabras?, Which both had searched without success.
It is not unusual to see stray dogs on the campus of the UASD, but this is another "thing."
The grotesque has the face of dog, cow tail, hooves that look like a fetus, shiny skin and other features that make it look like a weird freak.
One wonders what how it is possible to enter the university with a peculiar animal, and not to be seen by students who come daily to the site?, How did the animal come to the toilet, will it be an excuse someone? Is the product of a macabre experiment conducted in the laboratories of the UASD? Is it a malformed fetus and aborted in the bathroom?
But, for God's sake, why was it killed? wouldn´t it had been better saving his life the strange animal. Where is it buried?, can an autopsy be carry out?, "Did it scape from a circus or a private zoo? If there is a photoshop trick, could someone to show up?. Anyone who knows anything to say so.
Biologists and veterinarians have the floor.

URBAN LEGENDS

Ogopogo, the Lake Monster

A British Columbia, Canadian Ghost Story

His mind was full of dark thoughts and the demons spoke to him. His wild eyes and words frightened his people, and he became an outcast, shunned by all. One day in a fury of rage and pain, he attacked old Kan-He-Kan, a local wise man. The demon-possessed man killed the venerable sage on the shores of a beautiful lake near his home, and then ran away, afraid of what the people would do to him when they found out.

But the gods had seen the murder and were angry. They captured the demon-possessed man and transformed him into a terrible serpent as a punishment for the murder of the good Kan-He-Kan. Then the serpent was cast into the lake, condemned forever to remain at the scene of his crime. The people living near the lake called the serpent "N'ha-A-Itk" or Lake Demon. They would offer sacrifices to it before traveling upon its waters. But the offerings did not always appease the monster. Many times, a fierce storm would fall upon the lake and N'ha-a-itk would rise from the roiling waters to claim a life. Once a man who was watering his horse at the lake saw the monster rise up from the depths and pull the poor animal under. And so the curse of N'ha-a-itk continued to plague the residents of the lake.

Then the white man came, and they scorned the tale of the Lake Demon. They began taking timber from the land nearby, and floating the logs down to Lake Okanagan. One evening, as a local man worked on the raft of newly-sawn logs, he chanced to look up and saw a long serpent with a horse shaped head and a green, undulating body. It raised its head out of the water and stared deeply into the man's eyes. The man started shaking from head to toe and scrambled backwards toward shore. The demonic eyes of the giant creature gleamed with malevolence, and he scrambled up the bank and ran for his life.

Not long after, a resident set off in a canoe with his horses roped behind, leading them across the lake. Suddenly, the horses began screaming and thrashing in the water, and then disappeared underneath the waves. The canoe tipped backwards, and the man desperately pulled his knife and cut the ropes just in time to save himself from being dragged into the murky depths. The horses were never seen again.

Thus was N'ha-A-Itk first encountered by the white man at Lake Okanagan. The monster was seen many times through the years. Often, it appeared like a long tree trunk or a floating log, but it would move against the current. Swimmers vanished, boats were attacked, and sometimes the monster would rise up from the waters and grab birds from mid-air.

In 1942, the monster came and was rechristened "Ogopogo" after a line in an old song. It has been seen many times, and continues to haunt the waters of Lake Okanagan to this day.

urban legend

URBAN LEYEND
BLOODY MARY
A long time ago there was a little girl named Mary. She grew very ill and fell into a deep coma. The local doctor was old and feeble and without knowing any better, he believed she was dead. He informed the family and they had a funeral and buried the poor girl alive! Mary’s family lived very close to the graveyard where she was laid to rest. The first night, Mary’s mother thought that she heard a scream coming from Mary’s grave, but no one believed her. Days later, Mary’s mother convinced the family to dig up her grave. When they did, they found Mary dead, but they also saw scratches on the top of the coffin and Mary’s fingernails were bloody from her efforts to escape the grave.
Now if you follow these instructions, you may be able to see Mary for yourself. At midnight on Friday the 13th, turn off all the lights in your house. Go to the bathroom and turn on the water in the shower and the sink. Flush the toilet, look into the mirror and say “Bloody Mary” 5 times. She will appear in mirror. You need to hurry and turn on the light or she will stab you in the back.
Another Version
Just watched this week’s "Ghost Whisperer" which features the Urban Legend of Bloody Mary. Their version of the tale goes like this…
A towns local Dr. and his wife had an only child, a daughter named Mary. As a teen, Mary came down with Diphtheria, which was incurable at the time. The Dr. pronounced his child dead and felt they needed to bury her right away. They buried the girl in a wooden coffin and tied a string to her wrist, threading it up through the ground and tying the other end of a bell which they hung on a hook above the grave. If she was wrongfully pronounced dead, she would wake up and ring the bell and they could dig up the grave.
The girl’s mother would not leave the grave and her husband feared she would die of exposure if she didn’t come inside. He gave her an injection of morphine and brought her into the house.
The next morning when the father visited the grave of his daughter, he noticed that the bell had been rung "off the hook" and was now laying on the ground. He immediately began to dig, but his efforts were too late. Mary was dead by the time they got to her, but when she had woken in the night, she had scratched and clawed at the top of the coffin. Her hands were all bloody and her nails were stuck in the wood of the coffin.
The way to call her, according to their version, is to stand alone in the dark in front of a mirror and say her name 3 times, turning around in place after each time. After the third time you will see her behind you in the mirror and she will scare you to death.

Baseball

Since I was a child I have enjoyed baseball because my uncles taught me to see the baseball games and to go to the stadium. Sometimes I went to see the game with my parents, my father plays baseball too, but the origin of my preference for the baseball as my favorite sport is from my uncles.
my father wanted to see me practicing volleyball, but I don´t like it so much.

My uncles taught me some rules about baseball and I practiced with them at the yard and at a little satdium behind my grandmother´s house. Every sunday´s morning I woke up early to helped my uncles to prepare their bags and to went with them at the stadium, there I picked the balls, the gloves, etc.
At the stadium the one that is behind my grandmother´s house my uncles practice sotball all weekends softball. The softball is a team game commonly played in the United States and other countries. It is a direct descendant of baseball although some key differences are that softballs are larger than baseballs and the pitches are thrown underhand rather than overhand. Softball is played on a smaller diamond than in baseball; a softball field's average distances from home plate to the center, left and right field fences are 220, 200 and 200 feet respectively (the corresponding baseball field average distances are 410, 325 and 325 feet). Despite the game's name, the standard softball is not soft; in fact, it is just as hard as a baseball.

I just practiced softball for two months with some guys, I left to practice bacuse my father hates that and I didn´t have his autorization to practice it.

I know that I was a bad player,I had some problems since I was practicing, I was afraid to catch the balls , when I was under the ball I moved suddenly because I thought that the ball was to hit my head, another problem was that I didn´t want to dirty my clothes when I have to slide into the diamond, it sounds funny and stupid but it was true.
But I have a good skill practicing softball, I was an excellent pitcher. Nevertheless I left to practiced because I didn´t have enough time to practice rigidly and to grew my experiences as a player.
Nowdays I just see baseball from the bleechers and on tv, I love baseball, I know that it is weird in a girl, I enjoy to cheer in the stadium and to see the games.
In my house there is a big back yard, five years ago more o less I used it as a satadium with my brothers amd my cousins and some friends, the mango and the orange trees helped us to made the diamond in the yard. We practiced twice a week at the afternoons, it was our pastime , our games had a goodwill sense.
My favorite dominican baseball team is Licey, the blue team, the tigers.

Here I have some informations about doninican baseball that I want to share:

Professional Baseball in the Dominican Republic has evolved dramatically in its 100-year history. Originally there were two professional teams in the entire country; today the league consists of five teams. Santo Dominigo has two teams, Tigres del Licey, and Leones de Escojido; San Pedro de Macoris has Estrellas Orientales; Santiago has Aguilas del Cibao; and La Romana has Azucareros del Este. Each team play a sixty game schedule that begins the end of October and runs to February. The season ends in a round-robin play-off with the two finalist advancing to the Caribbean Series to play against the champions of Mexico Venezuela and Puerto Rico.

Major League Baseball of the Dominican Republic began to gain international attention in the early 50's. Ozzie Virgil was the first Dominican to play Major League baseball in the United States. By the mid-50's,driven by the success of Juan Marichal and the three Alou brothers, Major League Baseball in the Dominican Republic had become internationally recognized as the home of Winter Baseball.

Dominican Republic Baseball

From the sugar mill towns of 'San Pedro de Macrois',and 'La Romana', to fields all across the D.R., young, poor kids dream of someday playing major league baseball and bringing financial security to their families. The D.R. has a passion for baseball far and above anywhere else.
For Dominican Republic baseball, from late October to January, when the sugar mills are slow, a baseball season is born. It is the big leagues for Dominican ball players who dream of making it big. It's where their fantasies can come true. To play well and to be seen by major league scouts. It is also a time when current major leaguers can come home and play in their winterball season.
Since the 50's when Ozzie Virgil made Dominican Republic baseball famous by playing in the major leagues, we have seen more and more players make the transition and do it well. The Alou brothers, and currently, Sammie Sosa. Who could be bigger? Manny Ramirez, Pedro Martinez, and more.
When the ten year war (1868-1878) in Cuba brought turmoil to the country, many Cubans fled their country and migrated to the D.R. bringing with them the game called "Baseball" or "Beisbol. Dominicans were quick to learn the game and soon organized teams.
The national sport and passion of Dominican Republic is baseball or "Beisbol" as the Dominicans call it. No matter where you go on the island you will find a baseball stadium/park, even in the poorest of towns. Today more than one in six players in the American league is from Latin America, the majority of them coming from the towns located on the southeastern coast Dominican Republic.
Each year, from October to January, fans of the Dominican Republic Baseball support their favorite team. Games are held at the Quisqueya Stadium in Santo Domingo and at stadiums in Santiago, San Pedro de Macoris, and La Romana. If you are in the D.R. during this time, not only can you take in the beautiful beaches, but you have to take in a ball game. The passion for this sport is like no other for Dominicans all over.
WHAT TEAMS PLAY IN THE DOMINICAN?
Leon del Escogido Santo Domingo Estrellas Orientales San Pedro de Macorís
Azucareros del Este La Romana
Aguilas Cibaeñas Santiago
Pollos Nacionales San Francisco de Macorís
Tigers del Licey Santo Domingo
When the teams finish their season, the winner will vie for the Carribean World Series, among other latin countries. Not only is the season incredible, teams also feature american ballplayers that are trying to make it to the big leagues. When an organization has a top prospect and they want him to gain more experience, they will send him to a winterball league to hone his skills. So you will be seeing incredible baseball with incredible players and incredible fans!

BASEBALL IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

In the Dominican Republic developed the Dominican Winter Baseball League (LIDOM), is currently the highest quality professional league in the Caribbean and Central America and takes place in the autumn-winter season. LIDOM has 6 teams that regularly compete for a championship, a semifinal and a final series which determines the national champion. The teams belonging to this league are Aguilas Cibaenas, Tigres Del Licey, Leones Del Escogido, Estrellas Orientales, Toros Del Este and Gigantes Del Cibao.
In the Dominican Republic baseball are very popular because is a principal sport for enjoyed the people. Licey is the older teams in this country.

Las Aguilas Cibaeñas has been won 20 competitions.

Los Tigres Del Licey has been won 22.

Los Leones del Escogido has been won 14.

Las Estrellas Orientales has been won 3.

Los Toros del Este has been won 1.

Los Gigantes del Cibao have not won any so far.

Almost every year the final are between Las Aguilas and Licey, I think that’s because they are the best. The teams who win the final series at the country go to la Series del Caribe in representation of the Dominican Republic. Many important Dominican players whom play in the winter series are:
PLAYERS TEAMS
Luis Polonia, Santiago Ramírez and Alexis Gomez Las Aguilas
Joel Peral Los Gigantes
Carlos Mármol and Berni Castro Licey
Pablo Ozuna and Robinson Cano Las Estrellas
I think that the baseball in the Dominican Republic is a business because the people do not respect the others and if anyone annoying to owners of the teams they get fired, so if someone is not the accord can express about that because if not want to lose the position have to stay stay silent.

the name game

The Name Game," or "The Banana Song", is a children's singalong rhyming game that creates variations on a person's name. It was written by singer Shirley Ellis with Lincoln Chase, and Ellis' recording, produced by Charles Calello, was released in late 1964 (see 1964 in music) as "The Name Game." The record went to number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 (The Billboard Book of Top 40 Hits, Joel Whitburn, 1996, p.204), and number 4 on the magazine's R&B charts in 1965. It was re-released in 1966 and again in 1973.

Ellis performed "The Name Game" on major television programs of the day, including Hullabaloo, American Bandstand, and Merv Griffin. "The Name Game" has been recorded by dozens of recording artists in the years since, notably Laura Branigan, whose version produced by Jeff Lorber, appearing on her 1987 album Touch, features a classroom of third-grade schoolchildren singing along to the tongue-twisting game. The Brazilian singer Xuxa recorded a song using the same play and same sample in the song "Jogo da Rima". Often covered by relative unknowns on collections of songs for children, other cover versions have been recorded by artists as diverse (and campy) as Dean Ford and the Gaylords (1965), Divine (1980), and Soupy Sales (2002). In 1982, Stacy Lattisaw took her "rap" recording of "Attack of the Name Game" to #79 on the Hot 100. In 1993, this song was used on television as an advertisement for Little Caesar's Pizza.
